CHEM WARFARE TRAINING DOUBLE TRUCK #1
This image was printed in the center of the newspaper, a section called a "Double Truck." Many call it a centerfold when it is in a magazine. There was an ORI planned, or Operational Readiness Inspection. This is when the Inspector General comes in and checks every unit from the bottom up, to make sure they are competent in their jobs and missions. Part of this inspection was to make sure we were all ready with our chemical gear, the equipment designed to protect military members from Nuclear, Chemical and Biological (NBC) weapons. This includes aerosol anthrax, mustard gas, serin gas, VX gas as well as many others. This is Senior Airman Kyle Yoder. He works in the Civil Engineer Squadron at Dover Air Force Base. I set this up with him a week or so in advance. He stood against a white wall and I took his photo, arms spread, in full MOPP gear (Mission Oriented Protective Posture.) I used Photoshop to extract Airman Yoder from the white wall and put him into this layout. There are several fonts used here, stencil and digital and I have used the render clouds option to create a simulated "gas" look in the background. CTLOPEZ (Publication date, March 19, 1999) |
