Photos from the 2005 inaugural parade. Washington, D.C. January 20, 2005.

On January 20, 2005, President George W. Bush was sworn into office for the second time. It is tradition for the military to participate in the events leading up to an inauguration, and the 2005 inauguration was no exception. In fact, President Bush had asked the military to play an even more prominent role in the 2005 inauguration. As part of my job at Air Force News Agency, I was asked to cover some of the events the Air Force participated in. AFNEWS requested media credentials for me through the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee. I was privileged to get media passes for four of the events.

On Jan. 18, I attended the "Saluting Those Who Serve" event at the MCI Center in Washington. The story I wrote about that event is here. On January 19, I attended "A Celebration of Freedom" at the Ellipse in front of the White House. On the day of the inauguration I attended the inaugural parade. The story I wrote about that event is here. After the parade, my coworker Staff Sgt. John Anderson and I attended the Constitution Ball near DuPont Circle. The president made appearances at all four events.
