These sandbags are part of one of the many bunker structures interspersed between the billeting facilities in "Coalition City." On June 9, I was deployed to Southwest Asia as part of the Air Force’s Aerospace Expeditionary Force. During my stay, we lived in "Coalition City." Coalition City consists of a series of trailers for billeting, bunkers, dining facilities, a base exchange, a movie theater, the finance office, several bus stops and several bathrooms. The tiny city also had a central meeting area where troops on deployment could indulge in as many as three alcoholic beverages a day. The city exhibits one of the reasons why so many military folks choose to join the Air Force – and why they stay for a career.
