This is my dad sitting outside the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland near the inner harbor. In early 2001, I was told I would deploy to Turkey to support Operation Northern Watch. Prior to that deployment, I would fly to Fort Dix, N.J. to attend Phoenix Readiness, a kind of field exercise. Following the training I visited friends in Dover, Del., visited with my parents in Baltimore, and flew to Germany for a two week vacation.
